The Hawker Hurricane, Britains first monoplane fighter, nearly always is overshadowed by the faster and more elegant Spitfire. But this simpler, more robust and highly reliable fighter served at all fronts of the war with as much distinction as the Spitfire - during the Battle of Britain, in the far East with impossible odds against the japanese, in Russias mud, in the desert of North Africa and at sea.
