Gayle said this: “My favorite person is a singer songwriter named Laura Nyro. And, when I was in high school, when Debe and I were in High School, we were obsessed with her. She was a New York girl, and she wrote the most incredible songs and of course the reason why I connected with her is because she would sit at the piano and play and sing. And her songs were covered by a lot of different people.”
