The Battle of Pákozd, a pivotal event in the Hungarian war of Independence, took place on September 29, 1848, in the Pákozd-Sukoró-Pátka triangle. This clash marked the first and most significant major battle of the war, as the Hungarian revolutionary army, led by Lieutenant-General János Móga, halted the advance of the Croatian forces commanded by Josip Jelačić.
Jelačić, following the Habsburg's scheme, aimed to capture Pest and expel the Hungarian national government. However, the Hungarian victory forced Jelačić to negotiate an armistice and retreat towards Vienna.
