Female humpback whales off Brazil's coast now have an abundance of potential mates, with males competing for attention by slapping their tails and jostling in the water.

Once driven close to extinction in the 1980s, the South Atlantic humpback whale population has rebounded to around 35,000, nearly half of the species' global population.
