I forgot to mention changing filters and cleaning your humidifier! It will flash "CF" for "change filter" when it's time. Once it's also empty, I clean the reservoir with vinegar in the sink, before replacing the filter and refilling the unit. The additive is something I'd put in about every other fill, and only a small amount (instructions on bottle). I have the appropriate filters and the bacteria-fighting additive linked below as well.
