In our pilgrimage to Chartres this year we will be exploring the living intelligence of water with Veda Austin, the foremost investigator into the sacred geometry and mysteries of water. It will be life changing to understand that water communicates intelligently and can serve as a portal to other realms. The container for this exploration will be a seven day ritual and consecration in the sacred feminine. One of the most profound practices we do is Sufi whirling, taught by Banafsheh Sayyad who will lead the daily somatic practices. We also walk the labyrinth in the cathedral in a ritual designed by HeathAsh Amara. Together, we will rejuvenate our souls and rededicate our lives to all that is good and true and beautiful.
Banafsheh Sayyad is the Co-director of Chartres Academy. A master Persian sacred dancer, choreographer, transformational teacher and founder of Dance of Oneness®, she performs and teaches internationally, initiating people into the wisdom of their body, inspiring them to live their everyday life as a sacred dance. Banafsheh is one of the only dance artists who has mastered a fusion of high level dance technique with spiritual embodiment. She is among the few bearers of authentic Persian dance in the world, and the pioneer in creating a liberated feminine expression in the Sufi dance genre previously performed only by men. With a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance and Choreography from UCLA and a Masters in Chinese Medicine, Banafsheh is dedicated to individual and collective healing through conscious dance. Banafsheh's award-winning work has been presented in North America, Europe and Australia. Her dance film, In the Fire of Grace traces Rumi's journey of the soul in dance. Based in Topanga, California, she performs and teaches across North America, Europe and Turkey.
HeatherAsh Amara is a practitioner in the Toltec mystical tradition and author of The Warrior Goddess and numerous other books. She leads the ritual practices at Chartres.
