Hank Pellissier is the founder and director of Humanist Mutual Aid Network, a nonprofit headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, USA. Humanist Mutual Aid Network is a 13-year-old organization that provides assistance to secular humanist groups primarily in Africa and South Asia - specifically in the nations of Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Liberia, Chad, Niger Republic, The Gambia, India, Nepal, Myanmar, The Philippines, and in Appalachia, USA
Hank received a BA History at the University of California in Santa Barbara and an MA in Humanities from California State University in Dominguez Hills. He is married with two daughters who are studying in college, one in Boston and one in London, and he’s the foster parent of an 18-year-old Muslim girl from Somali State, Ethiopia. In the past, Hank worked as a columnist for the New York Times, as the Managing Director and conference organizer for a futurist think tank, as a preschool director, and as a comic storyteller, puppeteer, and slam poet. Hank is also an anti-war and freedom-of-speech activist.
