In 2006, the Victorian Parliament passed the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act, the first Australian state to comprehensively place civil, political and cultural human rights standards into law.
Two decades later, a distinguished panel of guests reflect on the original purpose of the Charter, why it was controversial at the time, what it has achieved over the past two decades and whether it has kept pace with the stateโs evolving population and the needs of people in Victoria.
