The eighth studio album by German epic power metal band Human Fortress, titled Stronghold, represents a milestone in the band's more than two-decade career. Scheduled for release on October 17, 2025, via Massacre Records, the album arrives as a triumphant return after their last studio album, Reign of Gold (2019), and the compilation Epic Tales & Untold Stories (2021). Available in formats such as a double-CD digipak and a limited vinyl LP, the album was produced by the band themselves at Soundhoops Studio, with mixing and mastering by the renowned Alexander Krull (Atrocity, Leaves' Eyes), providing a powerful and polished sound.
One of the most striking changes is the absence of keyboards, due to the departure of longtime collaborator Dirk Liehm, making Stronghold the band's first work largely without this instrument. This results in a more aggressive, guitar-centric sound, with heavy riffs and a greater emphasis on epic heavy metal, without losing the catchy melodies and grandiose choruses that define Human Fortress's style.
