Long ago, in the shadowy mists of pre-metal history, there existed a peculiar and passionate species: the Human Filmmaker. This now-extinct breed of artist thrived during the Analog Aeon and the Early Digital Epoch, long before the rise of the current era. They walked among us—wild, sleep-deprived, and armed with cameras that weighed as much as small livestock.

Driven by strange instincts, they gathered in dimly lit caves called “studios” where they toiled for hours, sometimes days, without sunlight. With fingers hardened by keyboard shortcuts and eyes reddened by rough cuts, they hunted elusive creatures like “the perfect shot” and “decent funding.” These noble beings didn’t rely on circuit brains or cloud consciousness—they used muscle, caffeine, and pure creative madness.

To edit a scene, they performed ritual dances known as “reshoots.” To tell a story, they wrangled lighting, weather, unpaid interns, and actors prone to emotional collapse. They faced mythical beasts such as “deadlines,” “notes from producers,” and the legendary “Render Crash.”

Their sacred mission? To craft moving images for fellow humans to laugh, cry, and eat popcorn in front of. They built entire worlds from plywood and passion, whispering their ideas into microphones and shouting them across sets.

This song is dedicated to them—the fragile dreamers, the cinematic pioneers, the Homo Filmiticus. They didn’t just make movies. They became movies. And though they are gone, their flickering shadows still dance on screens, reminding us that once, humanity dreamed in 24 frames per second.

He wrote the script, followed callsheets,
Gathered the crew, closed all the streets.
Carried sandbags in the golden hour,
Rocked matte box and V-mount battery power.

C-stands and lights, took half a day to set up,
Softboxes and all, three were more than enough.
Man shouts cut, boom mic's in the frame,
Costume held up in gaffer tape's name.

Ever heard of a human filmmaker,
Ran through the woods — true risktaker.
Broke all the laws — born lawbreaker,
Now digs graves — full-time undertaker!
Called it "art," now stuck at laptop
Job's done with a two-word prompt drop.

Gimbals stuck, slider for one sad shot,
Drone’s in a tree — guess that's all we got,
Anamorphics — sharp on the floor,
Credit cards cried — can't buy 'em no more.

Need fog — the image looks static,
More fog — now it’s cinematic,
Manual — never automatic,
Explosions firing up their magic

Ever heard of a human filmmaker,
Ran through the woods — true risktaker.
Broke all the laws — born lawbreaker,
Now digs graves — full-time undertaker!
Called it "art," now stuck at laptop
Job's done with a two-word prompt drop.

Fix it in post — desperate cry,
Out of B-roll, jump cuts fly,
Green screens torn, the shadows all wrong,
Hours of masking — nothing to show.
