Entry 22: Despite the thing I say in the video itself (which was the inspiration for the original version of the title that I ultimately thought went too far out of context), I do not think that Netflix's Fyre is a fraud in the legal sense or even necessarily the generally accepted, far less problematic sense. But, it is difficult to trust some of the conclusions that it comes to in light of information that Fyre Fraud provides. The missing context in Fyre feels sketchy and intentional in order to construct a broader narrative that I don't find helpful.

You should watch it anyway.

After Fyre Fraud.

Sorry for spoiling the video.

Addendum re: ethics. I think it's fair to claim that Hulu's doc is ethically compromised for paying McFarland to appear in it. That said, because the film is so much more focused on him as a person than the Netflix one, I think it's more important that he appear in one than the other. Paying him to sit down and be berated is ethically better than being paid to ignore a financier's role in what ultimately happened, I think.
