Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord (LaPaDu)
Dieses ab 1901 von August Thyssen errichtete Stahlwerk wurde 1985 stillgelegt und dient den Menschen heute auf einer Fläche von 200 Hektar als Kultur-, Natur und Freizeitpark.
Eine imposante Aussicht bietet sich von Hochofen 5 des ehemaligen Meidericher Hüttenwerks. Aus 70 Metern Höhe hat man einen großartigen Rundumblick auf Duisburg, Oberhausen und den Niederrhein.
Nachts wird das Werk durch eine Lichtinstallation des britischen Künstlers Jonathan Park illuminiert. Das volle Lichtprogramm ist jeden Freitag, Samstag, Sonntag, an Feiertagen und an den Vorabenden von Feiertagen zu sehen.
Der Park ist rund um die Uhr ganzjährig bei freiem Eintritt geöffnet.

This steel mill was build by August Thyssen. He start work on the construction of this blast furnace complex at 1901. It closed at 1985 and nowadays it is used as a culture, nature and leisure park.
From the top of Blast Furnace 5 (70 metres) you have a fantastic view over the city of Duisburg, Oberhausen, the Ruhr District and the Lower Rhine.
In the night the iron mill is illuminated by an light installation of the British artist Jonathan Park, which immerses the old ironworks in a fascinating sea of light and colour.
This illumination can be watched every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and on Bank Holidays.
The Landscape Park is open throughout the year and with no time limitations. Entry to the park site is free.
