VorpX Instructions/Notes
1) If the game crashes on launch when using VorpX, do the following ot fix it (considering you've run the game at least once before):
a) Open the file GameUserSettings.ini which you'll find under C:\Users\(Your Windows Username)\AppData\Local\FinchGame\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
b) If either "LastConfirmedFullscreenMode" or "FullscreenMode" isn't followed by "=1" make sure to change that (if both are present, change both)
c) You should now see either "LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=1" or "FullscreenMode=1" (or both). Save the file and close it.
2) VorpX will start the game in Immersive Screen Mode. While the curved screen this feature provides is cool, it messes up the stereoscopic depth because it distorts the image. I recommend using Cinema Mode for this game to feel and look best. Go to the VorpX Main Settings to change this, it's the first option.
3) In main Settings while in Cinema Mode, set screen distance offset to -0.25, then set 3D separation strength at 0.75. Those settings should give a realistic impression of world scale, as if looking through a window to the game world.
4) Leave the game's default field of view and don't use 3D FOV enhancement, as it will mess up the shadows.
So it seems that even after having the entire game's story spoiled for you by watching a review video, which was the case for me, What Remains of Edith Finch is still a stunning, even shocking experience! Not to mention I'm trying it out using VorpX's Immersive Screen and Cinema features in virtual reality using the HTC VIVE!
