The Health Research Board, as part of the HRB RED ALERT series, presents a public conversation on anxiety, stress and how the human microbiome relates to them.
With the conversation becoming increasingly more open around many aspects of mental health and how it affects sufferers and their loved ones, we take a focused look at stress and severe anxiety. This lecture discusses some of the new research into gut bacteria and how it can influence behaviour associated with anxiety and fear as well as the simple actions we can take to manage the pressures of everyday life.
Hosted by Dil Wickremasinghe, our panel of guests will include Aoife McElwain, author of the book Slow At Work; Gerard Clarke, a lecturer in the Department of Psychiatry currently researching gut bacteria at the APC Microbiome Institute at University College Cork; and Ian Robertson, Professor of Psychology at Trinity College Dublin.
