__How To Make a Decorative Lamp__

Materials:
-4x4x4 wood block
-spray paint (optional)
-1/2" diameter copper pipe
-pipe cutter
-socket cover
-drill
-drill bit
-pencil
-ruler/tape measure
-electrician's tape
-pliers
-scissors
-socket

Directions:
1. Measure pipe to 6". Mark with ink.
2. Using pipe cutter, slice off 6"inch piece.
3. Measure and mark center of wood block
4. Drill holes at center of two sides (so cord can enter and exit). Go straight in and then shift to an angle so there's an opening all the way through.
5. Spray paint wood now or leave natural.
6. Remove cloth from about 4-6" of the electrical cord and wrap electrical tape around the end.
7. Feed the cord through the pipe.
8. Using pliers, peel open the end of the cord and stripe and splice the white wires (leaving the green one untouched).
9. Run the cord now through the socket and socket cover.
10. Wire the socket, attaching the black wire to the gold screw and the white wire to the silver screw.
11. Pull the cord out through the side so that the socket sits tight in the socket cover.
12. Cut the end of the cord off to reveal the wires.
13. Splice the white, black, and green wire. Attach the white to the silver and black to the gold to complete the circuit. Attach, the green to the green screw. This will be your grounded wire.
14. Tighten the screws to the copper wire and close up the plug.
15. Add a bulb, plug it in, and switch it on!
