We’ll put on our golf shoes and glove, but yet we still wear the same glasses we had on at the office an hour earlier.

Dr. Rick Graebe OD, FOVDR, explains how this simple habit can throw off your golf game especially for players over 40 who wear bifocals or progressive lenses. When you look down at the golf ball, those lenses are designed to focus 16–20 inches away, making the ball appear blurry. That forces you to tuck your chin, shift your posture, and alter your swing mechanics without even realizing it.

If you’re serious about your performance or just want a smoother, more comfortable game, it’s a wise investment to get a pair of distance-only glasses made specifically for golf. You can even have a small bifocal segment added in the lower corner if needed but in most cases, clear distance lenses will give you the best visual edge on the course.

Whether you’re a casual golfer or a competitor, clear vision can help you line up your shot, maintain proper form, and enjoy your game more than ever.

At the Neuro-Visual Performance Institute, we’re here to help you see and perform your best on and off the golf course.
