Shor’s bones! Adoring Bethesda Fan Rob recently had the opportunity of a lifetime – to chat with Angela Browder (Studio Director & Head of Production at Bethesda Game Studios), Emil Pagliarulo (Studio Design Director), and Istvan Pely (Studio Art Director).

Together these Bethesda developers have a combined total of over 70 years of experience working at Bethesda AND have been integral to the creation of some of your favourite games, like Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim, Fallout 4, and Starfield.

Hear them chat about the ingredients of a Bethesda game, how it feels to see your work become iconic, and why (some) NPCs feel real(ly annoying). There’s a reason why Skyrim is your favourite game after all these years.

00:00 - Intro
00:59 - What’s the essence of a Bethesda Game?
03:31 - How does the Bethesda team create NPCs?
06:12 - Why do you love making annoying characters?
07:09 - What is it like working on a Bethesda game?
09:30 - How do you give Bethesda locations a sense of discovery?
12:20- Do you always have Power Fantasies in mind when you make a Bethesda game?
15:07 - How does it feel to have worked on games people still love after all this time?
