Moviewise | How Woke Culture Is Killing Cinema @Moviewise | Uploaded December 2022 | Updated October 2024, 1 hour ago.
A video essay about how dangerous polical correctness is for cinema. A sad case study of Sight & Sound Magazine's 2022 critics poll.
Sight and Sound Magazine polled over 1600 critics about the greatest film of all time. And it turns out Chantal Akerman's "Jeanne Dielman 23, Quai du Commerce 1080 Bruxelles" was elected as the greatest film of all time...
"Citizen Kane" previously held the record from 1962 to 2002. Then Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo" came along after slowly climbing up the ranks and took the spot long held by Orson Welles. Then the world went woke and the feminist flick dethroned Hitchcock.
By using the term "School of Resentment", coined by professor and (real) literary critic Harold Bloom, we'll see what our so called "movie critics" look for when they evaluate movies and why they are wrong. And we'll see what is the only correct way to rate a picture. It's aesthetic merit.
