Last week, the Sierra Club and our partners announced we're suing to stop the illegal decimation of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase–Escalante National Monuments.
Trump's unlawful proclamations slashed these monuments' boundaries by more than 90 percent, and now we're renewing litigation to challenge both rounds of illegal rollbacks together.
These lands are irreplaceable. Bears Ears and Grand Staircase–Escalante protect sacred Tribal cultural landscapes, critical wildlife habitat, world-class recreation, and clean water. The Antiquities Act exists to protect places like these, not to hand them over to mining and drilling interests.
