What did the floors of Herod’s Temple Mount actually look like? For centuries, this remained an archaeological mystery—until a mountain of debris from the Temple Mount led to a groundbreaking discovery.
After thousands of tons of soil were removed from the site in 1999, the Temple Mount Sifting Project began recovering fragments of opus sectile—intricate, Roman-style stone tiles. In this video, we follow researcher Frankie Snyder as she uses math, geometry, and the unique patterns of Herod the Great to "reverse engineer" these ancient floors. By decoding Herod’s secret "Herodian Triangle," she has successfully reconstructed the breathtaking designs that once paved the Royal Stoa and the Temple Mount.
