What's OSB and how is it made? Well it's short for Oriented Strand Board and even if you don't know the name, you might be more familiar with it than you think. In 60 seconds, we'll take you into one of our facilities and show you how we're able to make OSB.
Oriented Strand Board is used everywhere like in walls, floors, and roofs. To make OSB, we use smaller logs that don’t get picked for lumber and place them into the de-barker. After that, they get added to the strander, which uses razor sharp blades to reduce logs into precise strands of several lengths and sizes. Next the strands are dried and make their way down the forming line where every strand is carefully arranged into a panel for maximum strength. Finally, the panels get trimmed to size and are sealed prior to getting shipped all over the country.
OSB is an excellent choice for floor, wall and roof sheathing in residential and light commercial construction applications, providing a quality base layer for wall and roof sheathing applications.
