How we camp safely in large cities like Paris in our Mercedes Sprinter Self Build Campervan. This is part of our European Tour II travelling in our self-built camper van.
We continue travelling south and find a beautiful free park up on the banks of the River Somme. The parking area by the side of the canal is free, it has composting toilets, waste bins and mains water supply. Please leave this area clean and tidy and respect your surroundings.

I used our battery-operated water pump to fill our onboard tanks. We didn't get to visit Paris on our last trip to France so we made sure we did not miss it this time.
Parking in major cities is always very difficult so we found a brilliant campsite just 5km from the city centre, close enough for a walk and also had a shuttle bus service to the local metro station.

When we hooked up the mains shore power in Paris I used a plug tester to check the polarity of the main supply. Sometimes the live and neutral can be reversed in foreign countries so it is helpful to be able to check this.
