Steinberg's Neon and VB-1, the first two VST synths ever. Included in Cubase VST 3.7 (PC) in 1999.
It meant we now could do EVERYTHING inside (ITB) the box, in the same DAW. For better or worse. Midi- and audio recording, effects and for the first time ever; virtual instruments - software synths, all synced up and ready to go.
Just because you could, didn't mean you should....
