Every year, disasters disrupt millions of young lives. But across the world, youth are taking action to turn risk into resilience.
In 2024, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) launched the global “Are You Ready?” campaign, empowering children and youth to prepare for disasters, build safer schools, and take part in decision-making.
📚 From school safety drills and art exhibitions to regional youth platforms and policy dialogues, over 100,000 young people across 35 countries joined forces to make resilience part of everyday life.
At the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2025, youth delegates delivered a powerful declaration calling on governments to make every school safe, resilient, and connected to early warning systems.
Their leadership inspired 36 governments to pledge stronger commitments to school safety and resilience.
