Welcome to the Morakniv Carving School! In this video, our colleague Mikael shows you one of the classic and basic carving grips – perfect for improving your control and technique when carving.

Today’s technique: Scissor Grip
A strong and stable grip where you hold the knife like a pair of scissors, using both hands. Keep your elbows close to your body and locked against your chest to create power and control. This grip allows you to pull your hands apart in a controlled motion, making it perfect for removing large amounts of material or making deeper cuts safely.
