Hey guys,
In this tutorial, I go over how we can use custom textures map to do some simple as well as awesome boolean operations. This is a pretty simple technique as well as a non-destructive and procedural workflow.
If you're a pro, you probably know this. But if you're a beginner and stuck at making some holes in your model, then this video is for you.
Anyway, I hope you learned something today and had fun watching it.
Feel free to contact me if you have any queries regarding this tutorial.
EDIT: One of the limitations of this technique is that we can't give it thickness, not even with the solidify modifier. The reason for that is that we are modifying the object on texture level and not mesh level. I hope i make some sense. So this use of this technique would vary from project to project. I would say that his technique is a quick and dirty way of getting some cuts. But if you want control over the mesh, then the actual boolean operation would be your best bet.
