[Update] GB Studio 2.0.0 Beta Finally Here!
#GBSTUDIO #GAMEDEV #FreeGameEngine
There's no new documentation just yet though, things are subject to change but once it settles down a little I'll start getting an updated site ready. For now the best way to understand the new features is to create a new project with the "Sample Project" template, I've expanded out the previous sample project and tried to include examples of as many of the new features as possible in a single game.
This is a Beta build though so remember things might be broken or might not work like you expect, it's going to get better over time. It should be able to migrate your existing projects automatically (check out the Changelog above to see if any changes affect you though) but definitely keep backups before migrating anything important, there may be subtle bugs with this build and it's not possible to migrate your project back to 1.2.1 later. If you spot anything wrong you can create a new issue on GitHub over at github.com/chrismaltby/gb-studio/issues
Oh and Pocket support isn't included in this build but it will be coming!
Thanks for the support everyone!
And thanks to everyone who has donated to help me make GB Studio as good as it can be. Feel free to set the price to $0 if you want though, no pressure, and you can download on GitHub if you want too.
---
GB Studio is a visual game builder with no programming knowledge required allowing you to make real Game Boy ROMs in minutes. You can run the games on any emulator or you can run them on your Game Boy if you've got a flash cart!
Full documentation is available at https://www.gbstudio.dev/.
It's open source too!
Can't wait to see what you make!
