In this Pokémon Pokopia guide, I’ll show you how to unlock the Jump ability so you can explore the world much more easily.
Jumping makes traversal in Pokémon Pokopia far smoother, especially when you want to climb taller mountains, reach higher platforms, and explore new areas.
To unlock Jump, you need to find Magikarp and complete his special request. However, you will first need the Rock Smash move, since Magikarp is located behind smashable rocks inside a cave near the starting area.

Here’s how to do it step-by-step:
• Go to the starting area near Professor Tangrowth
• Enter the cave behind the stone wall
• Use Rock Smash to break the rocks blocking the path
• Find Magikarp flopping around inside
• Become friends with Magikarp and accept his request
• Restore the Ocean Fishing Spot habitat by placing a seat next to the fishing rod by the sea
Once the habitat is restored, talk to Magikarp again and he will teach you the Jump ability as a reward.
By default, Jump is mapped to the R button, but you can swap the Run and Jump controls in the settings to make B the Jump button, which feels much more natural for platforming and traversal.
