You can easily turn on the charge port heater on a Tesla Model Y by navigating to Controls Service Charge Port Heater or using the mobile app “Defrost Car” feature to thaw ice and enable charging even in cold conditions.
Using the Vehicle Touchscreen
Touch Controls on the touchscreen.
Go to Service.
Select Charge Port Heater to manually activate the heating function. This warms the charge port independently without turning on rear defrost or other vehicle systems, efficiently melting ice for cable insertion
Using the Mobile App
Open the Tesla mobile app.
Navigate to Climate settings.
Select Defrost Car. This will heat the windshield, windows, mirrors, and also the charge port to help remove ice. It's a convenient option when away from the vehicle or preparing for charging
