The simplest way to turn off a VPN on Android is through your device’s Settings app, by disconnecting the active VPN profile.
Method 1: Using the Settings Menu
Open Settings: Tap the Settings icon on your Android device.
Navigate to Network Settings: Look for Connections, Network & Internet, or More connection settings, depending on your device.
Select VPN: Tap VPN or VPN settings. Here, you’ll see a list of installed VPN profiles.
Disconnect the VPN: If a VPN is currently active, it will display Connected. Tap the active VPN profile and select Disconnect or toggle the switch Off.
Confirm: Some VPN apps may ask for confirmation or require you to re-enter your device PIN or password. Once confirmed, the VPN will be turned off.
Method 2: Directly from the Quick Settings Panel
Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel.
Check for VPN icon: Look for a VPN key/shield icon or a VPN toggle.
Turn off VPN: Tap the icon to disconnect immediately without going into Settings. This method is faster but may not work if the VPN app overrides system settings.
Method 3: Using the VPN App
Open the VPN app: If your VPN was installed via an app (like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or ProtonVPN), open the app.
Disconnect: Most apps have a clear Disconnect button prominently displayed on the main screen. Tap it to disable the VPN connection.
Verify: Ensure the VPN status is Disconnected to confirm.
