In this video, I take a simple piece of ash wood and turn it into a unique, artistic bowl with coloured embellishments and a rich grain-enhancing finish. Using my Harvey T60S wood lathe and Easy Wood Tools carbide turning tools, I shape the bowl and then take things to the next level with a few creative finishing touches.
To bring out the natural grain, I lightly scorched the surface before applying Forest Green Intrinsic Colour from Hampshire Sheen. Then I added a subtle shimmer with Silver Embellishing Wax, also from Hampshire Sheen, and sealed it all with Microcrystalline Wax for a durable, satin finish.
The inside of the bowl got a smooth finish using Yorkshire Grit abrasive paste and a final coat of Hampshire Sheen Finishing Wax, giving it a beautiful sheen and silky feel.
