Doc explains how to treat your home for ladybugs. Ladybugs, much like stinkbugs are attracted to your home as temps start to fall. The ONLY effective way to keep them out of your house is to kill them as they try and enter your home.

Seeking Shelter for Hibernation
As temperatures drop in fall, ladybugs instinctively search for protected spots to enter a dormant state called diapause (insect hibernation). They cluster together in large groups to conserve heat and moisture, often in crevices like wall voids, attics, or under siding outdoors.
Homes provide an ideal alternative: warm, dry interiors mimic the rocky outcrops or tree bark they prefer in nature, especially in urban or suburban areas where natural shelters are scarce. They're drawn to light-colored exteriors (which absorb heat) and enter through tiny gaps around windows, doors, vents, or foundations.

Timing and Triggers
The influx typically starts in late summer or early fall, triggered by shortening days and cooling weather, but you might spot them indoors through winter if they wake up due to indoor warmth or light.
Once inside, they don't eat or breed—they're just "hunkering down." However, central heating can dehydrate them, leading them to huddle on windowsills or walls.
