How to transfer a photograph to wood using an inkjet printer:
Start with a sheet of inkjet labels and peel all the labels off so you have this slick surface to print on. Load the sheet into your printer.
Boost the saturation on your image. If there’s text in your image, you’ll need to reverse the image.
Print your image using photo settings so it applies more ink.
The ink just sits on the slick backing...be careful not to touch it and smudge it.
The lighter the wood you use, the cleaner the image will look. Darker lumber will give the transfer a more subtle appearance.
You only get one shot at this. Set one edge on the board and press the paper down. Be really careful not to slip or slide.
After transferring, apply a clear wood finish. I’m using spray lacquer here.
