Jim Yang is the founder of Children Learning Reading(dot)com and has extensively researched and developed a proven program to teach your child to read quickly. He taught his own four children how to read starting at age 2 and he will give us tips on how we can successfully teach our own children to read at a very young age!
There are many different existing methods that help a child to learn how to read. Mr.Yang has actually tried other programs for his 2-year old child but then realized right away that she's actually not learning to read. With his research, he developed a quick way to teach your child how to read. In this episode, he will share his method of using phonics and phonemic awareness and how it is better than learning by sight and memorization.
According to his research, sight-reading is not as effective because it's basically just memorizing the word. Memorization is just a way of knowing without actually learning. So it's actually less effective unless your child is capable of both memorization and understanding at a very very young age.
