Takes about 3 minutes and a half, no boss killed, no possible way to progress from there. Game well played ;)
From the platform before I drop down to the bonfire you can go other ways, can bypass opening the door to Melentia and stuff. I haven't fully explored yet tbh, too busy with work and stuff.
The jump around the ladder is a bit tricky btw
