A simple single crochet scarf perfect for beginners and advanced crocheters alike. I loved the mindless stitching while I binged some of my favorite shows.
I wanted to touch on working into the side edge. Now, I'm showing it on my scarf, but this works on the side edge of any project worked in single crochet (US SC) rows.
💜 When working into single crochet rows, you work one stitch per row edge.
💜 Work as closely to the edge as possible. You don't want to work in between stitches as it will create gaps along the sides. On my second stitch, you'll see me working into the center of that stitch.
💜 There are two types of stitches you'll see: one that looks like a hole (the 2nd one I worked into), and one that looks like a stitch with the same v-shape. When you work into these stitches, you pick up two loops on your hook (even the one that looks like a hole - it's just a tighter, so it's harder to see). Alternate all the way down.
💜 How many stitches should I have? For single crochet rows, not including the first and last stitch where the corners are worked, it's equal to the total number of rows minus 1.
💜 What if my fabric is ruffling? Go down a hook size (I do this), block the finished scarf, or try skipping every other stitch. Experiment, and have fun!
