I’ve just finished sewing a child’s floor cushion with neat, mitred corners, and it’s one of those projects that feels instantly satisfying.
It’s generously sized so it can be used for reading, playing, or lounging on the floor, but still light enough for little hands to drag from room to room. The mitred corners give it a crisp, tailored finish; the seams meet perfectly at each edge, creating sharp, boxy corners that help the cushion hold its shape beautifully.
Of course, you can choose any fabric you like and make the cushion (or quilt!) in any size you like too.

Finished size; 22” x 22” (56cm x 56cm)
12” (30cm) square of fabric for the centre piece
Four 24” x 6” (61cm x 15cm) border fabrics
24” x 24” (61cm x 61cm ) wadding ( batting) polyester or 80/20
Two 23” x 13” (59cm x 33cm) Backing fabrics
18” (46cm) zip
22” (56cm) square cushion pad
