onlinekyne | How to Sew a Giant Puff Sleeve Cropped Jacket @onlinekyne | Uploaded 4 years ago | Updated 20 hours ago
HI GUYS!! I'm back with a new sewing tutorial on this big puff sleeve cropped jacket, this particular video I'm gonna show you guys my method of making giant puff sleeves, gathering, working with elastic, adding a collar, and working with a separating zipper. Please read this description for details!
Here's what you'll need:
- 2 ish yards of fabric (I'm recommending any light to medium weight woven fabric)
- about 40 inches of 1 inch wide braided elastic
- separating zipper (15 inches long, if you're going to use my measurements)
- thread
- fabric scissors
- machine
- straight edge/ruler/measuring tape
- curved ruler (optional)
- pattern paper
Timestamps:
- Making the sleeve pattern 2:22
- Sewing and gathering the puff sleeves 5:32
- Making the bodice pattern 11:51
- Sewing the bodice 12:45
- Attaching the sleeves to the bodice 15:56
- Adding the separating zipper 16:46
For further reference, I measure 30 inches around the waist/lower rib where my jacket fell, and I'm about 5 feet and 10 inches tall! Feel free to use the same measurements as I gave in the bodice pattern, or adjust things for your own body.
Hope you guys have fun with this tutorial! Maybe try changing up the shape of the sleeve, or adding shoulder pads or stuffing inside the sleeve to puff it up even more, or doing a short-sleeve version? I can't wait to see what you guys create! Also, be sure to check out withwendy on youtube, from whom I learned my gathering method. :) (hi Wendy!!) xoxo
