Here's what you need for your fat quarter (FQ) bin:
-2 fat quarters
-1/2 yard of cotton batting.
1. Cut your FQ in half width-wise, so you have 2 rectangles that are 9" tall by 20-22" wide, depending on the width of your fat quarter.
2. Next, cut your rectangles into 3rds so that you have 6 equal pieces that are 9" tall by 7" wide** for each FQ.
**Note about the final width: It will be your full width divided by 3. So, if your full width is 21", you should cut the FQ into 9" tall x 7" wide. If your full width is 22", you should cut the FQ into 9" tall x 7 1/3” wide.
You could also just cut your width down to 21" to get a nice even number (7") in your pieces.
3. Next, cut 1 piece from each FQ so that it is a perfect square (7" x 7" or whatever the full width of your fabric is).
