UPDATE: The recently released PS5 "Slim" model requires an internet connection on setup to pair the disc drive. Without connecting to the internet you won't be able to use the disc drive basically making the system useless. This requirement is also required between factory resets, so buying a pre owned slim won't help. If you don't have internet to pair the drive, I recommend getting one of the original PS5 models as those do not require any sort of internet connection to setup.
UPDATE 2: Most PS5 game discs released at this point include the firmware update required to run PS4 BC games. Most PS5 consoles also now come pre installed with the firmware required for PS4 BC games, so you shouldn't need to worry about the firmware update being required now.
