Setting up a mobile hotspot on Android allows you to share your phone’s internet connection with other devices using Wi-Fi, USB, or Bluetooth.
Step 1 — Open the Hotspot Settings
Unlock your Android phone and go to Settings.
Look for Network & Internet (on some phones it might be Connections, Tethering & Mobile Hotspot, or Wireless & Networks).
Tap Hotspot & Tethering or Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
Step 2 — Configure the Mobile Hotspot
Select Wi-Fi Hotspot or Mobile Hotspot.
Tap Configure or Set up Wi-Fi hotspot.
Set a Network name (SSID) — this is the name that other devices will see.
Choose a Security type — usually WPA2-Personal for the best security.
Set a strong Password to prevent unauthorized access.
Optionally, you can adjust AP Band (2.4 GHz is compatible with most devices, 5 GHz is faster but has shorter range) and Max connections.
Step 3 — Activate the Hotspot
Toggle the Turn on Wi-Fi hotspot switch.
Your phone will now broadcast a Wi-Fi network. Other devices can find it using the SSID and connect using the password you set.
Step 4 — Connect Other Devices
On the other device (laptop, tablet, or another phone), open Wi-Fi settings.
Look for your Android hotspot’s SSID.
Enter the hotspot password and connect.
Once connected, the device will use your phone’s mobile data.
Step 5 — Optional: Use USB or Bluetooth Tethering
USB Tethering: Connect your phone to a computer with a USB cable, go to Hotspot & Tethering, and toggle USB Tethering. Your computer will use your phone’s internet.
Bluetooth Tethering: Pair your phone with another device via Bluetooth, then toggle Bluetooth Tethering in Hotspot & Tethering settings. Useful if you want low-speed connectivity and minimal power consumption.
