Learn how to set up a spinning back kick in Kickboxing with European K-1 Champion and Maji Art of Fight head coach Tai Terada, alongside his younger brother and K-1 WORLD GP Featherweight Champion Takumi Terada.

In this Warrior Collective Japanese Kickboxing video, Tai breaks down one of the methods the Terada brothers use to disguise and set up the spinning back kick during sparring and competition.

Rather than simply throwing the technique in isolation, Tai explains how the attacks that come before it can be used to manipulate an opponent's reactions and create the opening for the spinning back kick.

He then takes the concept further, showing how the same setup can be developed into additional combinations and attacking options.

Following on from Japanese Kickboxing – Learning the Art of Fighting, Volume 2 moves from understanding the weapons and concepts of Japanese Kickboxing to learning how they are actually developed through pad work.

Tai is joined throughout the instructional by Takumi Terada, who demonstrates the drills with the speed, precision and explosiveness that have taken him to the highest level of K-1 competition.

The complete volume covers:
πŸ₯Š Japanese Kickboxing Pad Work Fundamentals
πŸ₯Š Boxing Techniques
πŸ₯Š Japanese Kicking Techniques
πŸ₯Š Calf Kicks & Low Kicks
πŸ₯Š Japanese Boxing Drills
πŸ₯Š Layering Kicks & Knees
πŸ₯Š Setting Traps
πŸ₯Š Live Japanese Pad Work
πŸ₯Š Fight IQ Development
πŸ₯Š Bonus Pad Work Drills
πŸ₯Š And much more…

Rather than simply giving you combinations to copy, the instructional explores how modern Japanese pad work can be used to develop timing, reactions, pressure, decision-making and fight IQ.

Why Japanese Kickboxing?

Modern Japanese Kickboxing has developed into one of the most dynamic striking styles in contemporary combat sports.

Drawing upon influences including Kyokushin Karate and modern K-1 Kickboxing, the style has become known for explosive combinations, aggressive pressure, calf and low kicks, creative kicking attacks and the ability to continually force and exploit reactions.

The spinning back kick shown in this video is a good example of that philosophy.

The objective isn't simply to learn an impressive kick.

It's to understand how to create the reaction that allows you to land it β€” and what other attacks become available when your opponent begins anticipating it.

Learn Japanese Kickboxing in English

Despite the success of Japanese fighters at the highest levels of modern Kickboxing, detailed instruction on the systems and training methods behind the style remains relatively difficult to find in English.

Warrior Collective's exclusive series with Tai Terada has been created to help bridge that gap.

Tai grew up training martial arts in Japan before moving to the Netherlands, competing successfully in Kickboxing and eventually becoming a European K-1 Champion.

Today he is the founder and head coach of Maji Art of Fight in Eindhoven, Netherlands, where he teaches and develops fighters using his modern Japanese Kickboxing system.

His younger brother Takumi Terada competes at the highest level of the sport in Japan and is the K-1 WORLD GP Featherweight Champion.

Together, they provide a unique combination of English-language coaching, authentic Japanese martial arts knowledge and proven elite-level K-1 competition experience.
