You can also sand the frame surface where the plastic film is going to lay on to increase overall adhesion. Normally this is not a necessary step if you’re sealing/doming on a piece that hasn’t reached its full cured state (which takes about 3 to 7 days). If your resin has way past the soft cured stage and is fully cured, then I recommend the sanding.

****Many commercial shaker resin molds have a slit or a notch for the needle for filling the shaker liquid. I hate this because I can never seal it properly using that. So I normally fill it in with resin. Check out this video on how I do it: youtu.be/1C8CcpYugH4. (At 3:47 mark)

Q: I DONT HAVE UV RESIN, CAN I USE 2PART RESIN TO GLUE ON THE PLASTIC FILM?
A: You can but the film may slide off so you would have to baby sit the film for a while until the resin has cured enough where it won’t move. OR you can wait for the resin to get thicker and stickier before gluing the film on.
Q: I don’t have uv resin, can I use clear glue to seal the plastic film onto the frame?
A: as long as you have a leak free seal with the glue...I guess? But you’re going to be able to see the glue even after you seal it with resin.

Why do I use two different types of resin in my projects?
I use a casting resin rocast and a doming resin for doming.
Casting resin is usually low in viscosity and works very well in molds without much issue with the bubbles. Also the low viscosity will allow the resin to reach detailed area of the mold. Doming resin is thick in viscosity and holds its shape very nicely. It creates a full dome and tends to hold the surface tension much better than low viscosity resin. So lower risk of the resin dripping off the sides. It also gives the piece a smooth, flawless finish.
