Learn how to save photos in RAW format for professional and advanced editing on the Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra camera.

RAW photography is useful when you want greater control over your images during post-processing. Compared with a processed JPEG, a RAW file preserves more of the original image information captured by the camera, giving you greater flexibility when adjusting exposure, highlights, shadows, white balance, colors, and other image settings.

To save RAW photos, open the Camera app and switch to Pro mode. Open Camera Settings, select Photo format, and look for Pro mode picture format. Select RAW when available. Depending on the available camera options, you can also choose RAW and JPEG if you want an editable RAW file together with a shareable JPEG version.

After enabling RAW capture, take a test photo and check Gallery or a compatible file manager. RAW images are commonly stored in DNG format and require compatible photo-editing software for professional processing.

RAW files are particularly useful for landscape photography, portraits, night photography, difficult lighting conditions, and images that require extensive post-processing. They provide more editing flexibility but usually require significantly more storage space than JPEG files.

If you need quick sharing on social media, websites, messaging applications, or other devices, JPEG is generally more convenient. If you want both editing flexibility and easy sharing, selecting RAW and JPEG together can provide both versions of the image.

For best results, keep sufficient storage available, back up important RAW files, preserve the original RAW file before editing, and use a compatible RAW editor. Avoid deleting the original file until you have completed your professional edits and created a final copy.

The exact menu names and available options may vary depending on the Galaxy S26 series software version, camera mode, and device configuration. RAW features may also differ between Pro mode and Expert RAW.
