Can you really run a Large Language Model (LLM) on a Raspberry Pi? In this video, I’m pushing the limits of this tiny SBC to see if local AI is actually practical and if we could setup Ollama Raspberry Pi. I’m sharing my full hands-on experience—the crashes, the overheating, and the fixes that finally made it work.
I’ll walk you through the complete installation of Ollama and Open WebUI using Docker, and why I chose TinyLlama as the go-to model for the Pi 4 and Pi 5. We’ll also tackle the 3 biggest roadblocks I faced:
Storage limits (Don't make my 16GB mistake!)
Memory crashes (Fixing "Signal: Killed" with Swap)
Thermal throttling (Why cooling is mandatory)
