"Use it or lose it" is the general rule for foreign languages. What makes you more or less likely to lose it? What can you do to prevent loss? And if you have lost a language, what is the process of getting it back? After discussing this, I describe how learning older historical (medieval) forms of your own language is more a form of recovery than of learning something new.

If my videos interest you, then you might want to consider studying with me for an hour a week in my virtual academy. I offer:
1) Reading and discussion circles for French, German, and Spanish literature
2) Conversational Latin
3) Great Books seminars (Western Civilization and Sacred Books of the East)
4) Introduction to reading medieval literatures (Historical English forms - Old and Middle English + Gothic), Middle High German, Old French
5) Consultation and support for those teaching themselves languages
6) Study-with-me opportunities for languages such as Arabic, Korean, Persian, Russian, Hindi, Sanskrit, Greek, Gaelic, Swedish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, etc.

If any of these offerings interest you, please fill out the application at: alexanderarguelles.com/academy

I will gratefully receive any contributions to help me spread knowledge through my videos, at ko-fi.com/alexanderarguelles
