For students who are preparing for their GCSE or A-LEVEL exams, here are the techniques that I have found worked most effectively for my students.
TECHNIQUE 1 is using post-it notes in areas associated with senses - this is particularly effective because it also utilises the method of Loci, so you can remember notes based on their location in your house.
TECHNIQUE 2 is using folding pieces of paper to distill information - both testing you as you prepare the notes, but also providing you with a convenient form of flash card that fits in your back pocket.
TECHNIQUE 3 is to make something new - try writing a magazine article or doing something that requires you to utilise the information you're are trying to retain.
