Description: This is how I repair corroded pads, via’s, runs & IC’s on circuit boards. The board I’m repairing is a mother board out of a Packard Bell 486 Model No. PB422TA. On the PB410 486 Motherboard, P/N: PY4307-03, the battery acid has leaked out and corroded U49 and several other surface mount components, including the pad, via’s and runs. Circuits get corroded for a variety of reasons, battery acid, water intrusion and flux left on the board that absorbs water and eats the components. The process applies to any corroded circuit board.
Here's a link to the website my friend used to troubleshoot his PB. There's some useful info here:

Items I used:
- Round Nosed Exacto Blade.
- Solder Wick, small.
- Lead 70/30 Solder. .020”
- KimWipes or TekLites. Technical Towelettes.
- Liquid RMA Flux.
- Isopropyl Alcohol. to clean the flux off the board and IC.
- Small Side cutters, to cut the wick.
- Electronics Micro-Scope and stand with a LED Ring Light.
- A No. 80 drill bit to clean the corrosion out of the via holes.
Hope this helps Yall! If you liked the video or learned something, please give it a thumbs up for my efforts. If you would like to help my channel, please subscribe. I do electronics, misc. computer stuff and automotive repairs. Thanks for watching. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
