This video will show you how to remove the back cover from the Google Nexus 5 cell phone. The only tool you need is a spudger or a guitar pick.
This should not void your warranty, but I will not guarantee that, so you need to check with the source of your phone to see if it does. If you are careful and use the correct tools, then when you put it back together it will be 100% the same as when you took it apart. If you use the wrong tools (such as metal instead of a plastic spudger) or are not careful then you could possibly cause scratches or snap some clips off. So take your time and use the correct tools.
To take the back cover off you will need to leverage the spudger (or guitar pick) in between the front and the back pieces. In my video, the backing is white, but yours may be black, red, or another available color.
When you push in the spudger, make sure not to push too hard, as well as not to push it in too far. You only need to push it in far enough to make the clips pop up.
The corner with the camera is the hardest to get in my experience, so I would save that corner for last.
After you get all the clips, the back should pop right off and the internals of the Nexus 5 will be exposed for you to work on.
When you want to put the back cover back on the Nexus 5, simply line up the cover so that it goes on in the way it came off (make sure the camera hole is lined up correctly) and then just push the edges down to snap the back cover back on.
