Procedures will be similar for most Camry models from 2006 to 2011, but be sure to know the specifics for your vehicle before getting started.
Once you’ve got your supplies together, here’s what you’ll do:
Park on a level surface.
Chock the rear wheels… and remove wheel cover if your Camry is equipped with one. Use a lug wrench or breaker bar and 21mm socket to loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels.
Use a jack and jack stands to lift and support the front end of the vehicle.
Remove the lug nuts… and front wheels.
Use a 14mm socket and ratchet to loosen and remove the two caliper bolts.
Work the caliper off the rotor… and hang it somewhere out of the way, making sure there’s no pressure on the brake hose.
Take note of the orientation of the brake pads so that you can install your new pads properly.
Then remove the pads from the bracket.
Use your ratchet and 17mm socket to loosen and remove the caliper bracket bolts.
Remove the bracket…and set it aside for now.
Remove the old rotor from the hub, using a hammer if necessary to tap it loose.
Only use a hammer if you’ll be replacing the rotor…tapping it loose can cause damage to the rotor.
Clean any rust off the hub with a wire brush.
Add some silicone brake grease to the hub before installing the new rotor to make it easier to remove next time you service your brakes.
We’ll be installing Import Direct rotors, which don’t require cleaning… but for most other rotors, you’ll need to use brake cleaner and a shop towel or rag to remove oil from the friction surfaces of your new rotor.
Any time you use brake cleaner, remember that it will strip paint, so be very careful where you spray it.
Install the new rotor… and use one of your wheel lug nuts to hold it in place as you continue to work.
